St Helens 2014 10k Run and 2k Run

10k2014                                           A selection of runners on our behalf from last year’s 10k.

It’s that time of year again! The St Helens 10k run returns for another year in association with Steve Prescott Foundation. There are several charities that have been nominated for fundraising during this event, including ourselves. We are once again calling for runners to participate in the race to raise money on our behalf.

Please do not interpret this as a competition as you can complete the run at your own pace. However, you must be sixteen years old or above to participate in the St Helens 10k run. There is also a 2k fun run for children aged 6-11. You can register for the 10k run here and the 2k run here. Click on the respective links to be taken to the registration form. Click on Online Entry (Both of them are built in the same way) to start the registration.

The race will commence at St Helens RFC Stadium in Langtree Park on McManus Drive. The two races will take place on 9th March 2014.  Click the Langtree Park Link for a Google Map for directions how to get there (Just replace Hall Street with your address.) The 10k run officially starts at 9:30am while the 2k begins at 8:00am, although we would advise you to get there as early as possible to avoid longer queues with registration. This would make things easier for both staff and yourself. [RFC Picture credit to]

We must emphasize this as we had several runners last year that did not do this. If you are running on our behalf, then you must make that clear on the application form. The way to acknowledge you are running for us is not like last year. In order to do this, when you are filling out the application, there will be a question with a drop down box that says “Are you running for one of our nominated charities?”

Click the box below it where it says “Please choose a charity…” and we should be fourth one down on the list. The screenshot above should indicate where to find us on the list. This is so the organization can contact us to let us know. Once you have registered, contact us and we can send you a sponsorship form so you can gather more sponsors for the race. This drop down option does not exist for the 2k fun run, however, if you and your child want to run to raise money for us then please contact us and we will send out a sponsor form.

Applications close 21st February. If there are any more details this post will be updated accordingly. We hope to see you there. Please hurry with your application because at the time of writing this, there are currently 759 participants for 10k and none for 2k. There is a total overall limit of 1800 for the 10k and 200 for the 2k so if you want to do it this year this must be done quickly.

As we repeatedly say on this website, we appreciate every bit of support that you can give us and we hope to see you support us during this event. Good luck and we hope to see you there! If you have any further questions, please call the Hall Street office and we will try our best to solve the query for you. All proceeds will go towards fulfilling a terminally ill adult’s special wish.

P.S.: Not convinced? Read our summary of the 2013 10k run just to see how we did.

P.P.S: We have also found an entry pack  from 2013 with more information in. However, it would be better to wait for the official packs sent for this year after you register so you would have more updated, accurate information. This is to get a general idea on what the day will be like.
